Print / Editorial : Travel Journal

Overview

This is a personal print project documenting my 9-day itinerary in Kansai, Japan through a photo journal combining travel photography, sketches, commentary, and cultural insights.

The journal captures both visual experiences and contextual information such as historical trivia, cultural notes, and practical travel tips.

Problem

While planning my trip, I found it difficult to find reliable and consolidated travel information. Recommendations were scattered across blogs, videos, and forums, making it time-consuming to determine where to go and when to avoid crowded areas.

Solution / Purpose

This project was created to consolidate my personal travel experience into a structured visual journal, helping first-time travellers to Japan explore places more confidently and meaningfully.

It aims to combine:

  • Practical travel tips

  • Cultural and historical context

  • Personal observations and sketches

to create a more immersive and informative travel guide.

Design Intent

In an increasingly digital world, this journal explores the value of physical print media as a slower, more immersive experience.

The goal is to allow readers to disconnect from screens and experience travel storytelling in a tangible, book-like format that feels personal and reflective.
