Branding :
Personal Logo

Case Study

Design a personal logo to be used for business card and invoice.

Tools Used

Photoshop and Illustrator.

Overview

There are six steps in the design process.

  1. Choosing the type of logo : vector or text. I create a pencil and a brush vectors to form a logo of the letter A to demonstrate my creativity but I realised it does not look professional. So I chose something simple, a text logo of my name initials : AA.

  2. Choosing the right font. My decision is straight forward as I wanted something simple and readable regardless of the size, on business cards, invoices or social media so I chose Sans-Serif type.

  3. Ensuring the logo and font are balanced so that they do not compete against each other for attention where one do not overwhelm the other and seems messy which will confuse people.

  4. Choosing the right colour. I wanted something bold that grabs your attention. Nothing beats the colour red which happens to be my favourite colour and it also represents energy and passion.

  5. Choosing the right size and placements of the texts and logo to ensure balance so that the logo is highly visible but do not block or distract people from reading the information clearly.

  6. Refining the design such as using similar circular icons for the information instead of using random shape icons and using the same colour as the logo to ensure continuity and make it more colourful.

Conclusion

Designing my personal brand is challenging as I am trying convey my passion and identity to my prospective clients through visual design which reflects what type of person I am and what service I provide, enough to spark their curiosity into contacting me. I want to show a sense of professionalism and trust while having a subtle hint of boldness and creativity.
